Cheap Signage

As you all probably know, when the Interstate 85 Bypass opened in Greensboro on February 21, 2004, the old section of Interstate 85 became Business 85. But it wasn't until about September of 2004 that the old Interstate 85 signs on Business 85 were replaced with Business 85 signs.

According to an April, 2004 edition of the Greensboro News & Record, the reason it was taking so long to replace the signs was because the printing company was still making the new exit signs. But it was still acceptabley slow.

But when the signs were replaced in September of 2004, a few of the signs were poorly made and a few old signs were even forgotten like the following signs.

At Exit 218 on Interstate 40, this "To Interstate 85" shield on the middle sign was not replaced. Some might think that this shield was left because US-220 South takes you to the new Interstate 85 Bypass. Not!

According to this sign which is right after the previous one, this exit takes you to Business 85! I sense an error.

Take a look at these two Business 85 signs. The designation is right, but the size isn't. The size of them are too big for their places. The far right one is taking up a part of the "C" in "Charlotte" and the center one is taking up a little bit of the "North" above US-220.

There's another sign that I'll post later. It's on my other computer. The Business 85 shield on it is the opposite of the last picture. It's too small!

Does seem like a bit of a hatchet job.

Those signs have been changed just as many times they've tried to legalize alchohol sales in Asheboro
