Retro Signage: 5/2/06

This is located at the end of Corporation Parkway in Burlington at the BMOC Outlet Center. This sign might not look retro, but it is.

Apparently when Interstate 40 was added to Interstate 85 back in the early '90s, the DOT never got around to adding Interstate 40 shields to some existing Interstate 85 signs. There are many other signs like these scattered throughout the corridor area especially near the BMOC. Some have recently been updated, but most have not.

There is another sign in Winston-Salem that has a similar error. This one is located on Hanes Mall Boulevard at Silas Creek Parkway. It's an all text sign that says something like "To I-40". This sign points toward Silas Creek Parkway North which doesn't take you to I-40. It takes you to Business 40. They forgot to update that one back in '92.
