Happy Birthday Interstate System
Fifty years ago today, the Federal Interstate Highway System Act was signed. This was in 1956 when President Dwight Eisenhower was in office.
That same year, Elvis Presley recorded Heartbreak Hotel and appears on The Ed Sullivan Show, The Price is Right with Bill Cullen aired, and the first transatlantic telephone cable went into operation. Also, I was about negative 33 years old.
Road City salutes the Interstate System. Without it, traffic would be even more of a nightmare. Save the above picture to use as your desktop wallpaper if you would like.
