Interesting Sign Construction

I've always been a fan of weird and unusual signs. This sign is no exception. And I happened to find it across from Carolina Circle Mall. This old Ring Road sign I believe is still standing.

Business a lot of times will create their own sing style for roads around the building. I'm not real sure what the sign is made from. It looks sort of like wood. I'm not real sure if those signs were put there when the mall opened 30 years ago, or after the late '80s renovation. I also believe this is the only Ring Road sign like this remaining.
