Happy 1st Anniversary!
It was August 14, 2005. I had recently gotten back from North Myrtle Beach. I needed to come up with a hobby to occupy my time.
Before, I had read a lot of blogs that got me inspired. I thought, I'd give it a shot.
When I signed up, I had to come up with a name. It had to be "Road" something. I almost started "Road Land", but that was taken. So, I tried "Road City". And that's how it started.
At 8:37 PM that night, I made my first post titled "Welcome". It was a very short post saying "Welcome to my new blog. I hope you enjoy all of my posts". That same day, I wrote my first real post giving a basic summary of Interstate 40 titled "The Wonders of Interstate 40".
Starting in September of 2005, I started the Roadgeek's Garfield of the Week and in December of 2005, I started the Road Sign of the Week which both have been very successful.
Road City is the main blog of the entire Roadgeek BlogRing. Why? Because this blog is part of my most important hobby which is of course being a Roadgeek. Whenever I create a new blog, it's always announced first at Road City.
Road City has taken you through some of the biggest events so far this past year. Road City was here when the 2005 Dixie Classic Fair took place, my 16th birthday, Christmas 2005, New Years 2006, the progress of Painter Boulevard, my trips, the closing of Pendle Hill Christian School, and much more.
One year later, Road City and blogging has become a major part of my life as well as Carolina Circle City, Flashback City, Vintage Computer City, and Lost Retail City. It's hard work, but it's definately worth it.
As for the future of Road City, I ain't going anywhere. Road City will be here to bring in 2007 and the possible opening of the next segment of Painter Boulevard. Hold on! This is year number 2 of Road City!
