The Roadgeek's Opinion: Hurricane Katrina

In all of my days on this earth, I have witnesed many a hurricane. But Hurricane Katrina takes the cake.

Hurricane Katrina might have not hit North Carolina, but it has ripped through my heart like it did. My house is still standing, my lights are still burning, and I am dry as a bone. But this overwhelming disaster in the Gulf is one of the worst events I've ever seen. This evening while watching the CBS Evening News, I nearly broke into tears because of what has happened to these people. People are sleeping on the Interstate!

Gas Prices jumped to nearly $3.00 overnight! Many people are going crazy over that, but what if you were in Louisiana and you were lost and sick. As long as you have a home to sleep in at night, these gas prices are just the smallest effect of the hurricane.

Many of you might know that I have been very devestated over the demolition of Carolina Circle Mall. Seeing what has happened to everyone effected by the hurricane, I would rather have my favorite mall be destroyed than my house being destroyed.

Man, how do you recover from something like that? I can't even imagine what it would be like to see my house wash away. This makes the loss of CCM seem almost insignifigant by comparasin.
